Angie Shyr
Violin, Piano, Voice, Organ
About
I was a prodigy at 7 when I played Mozart’s Violin Concerto for Yehudi Menuhin and was invited to attend his school in England. As a teen, I toured with orchestras through most of Europe, Canada and US. I play piano too. My first job was accompanying singers and violists at Eastman School of Music. My latest writing projects include https://www.pechakucha.org/presentations/kitchen-counterpoint and music for title sequence of upcoming docu-series Creatorland. Altogether, my experiences bond into a musical topography that is comprised of composing and performing.
Sept 2018 Solo Violin House Concert Raves: "Such was the power of your work, the magnetism of your music, we all were glued to our positions, and were able to make the world right again. In other words, you saved the world last night. Thank you thank you thank you."
"The fabulous opening piece slayed me. Oh, the tone and the vibration! Your intonation was so perfect and you made the multiple voices in the music so clear."
Music
From traditional classical to modern classical, my own (modern) classical compositions or classical hybrid pieces, from hymns and chants to progressive arrangements of spirit music. I blend poetry in my programs serving like program notes. Recently, my program has consisted of Bach, Debussy, Shostakovich, Chopin, Bartok and Sibelius.
Sept 2018 Solo Violin House Concert Rave: "I recently had the pleasure of hearing Angie at Stan’s Music Parlor. Her energy and enthusiasm was contagious; her music original; and her musicianship on the piano, violin, and pipe organ, masterful. Angie is pure joy. If you have a chance to attend her performance, go. And bring a friend along. They’ll thank you."
