Leo Sussman

About
Flutist Leo Sussman grew up playing chamber music in living rooms and gigging with a youth salsa band in his hometown of San Francisco. He has since performed as a fellow at the Bowdoin and Norfolk music festivals as well as at the Banff Centre and Eastern Music Festival. Other recent appearances include a concerto performance with the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra as well as new music concerts at National Sawdust and Electronic Music Midwest.
Winner of top prizes in various regional competitions, Leo earned a Master of Music from Yale School of Music where he studied with Ransom Wilson and received the Alumni Association Award. He holds undergraduate degrees in music and physics from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, where he studied with Erin Lesser. He is a member of Ensemble Connect (http://ensembleconnect.org/), a NYC-based chamber music group dedicated to presenting innovative and engaging programs for audiences from elementary schools to Carnegie Hall.

I love designing and performing programs that span styles and time-periods but that are united by common threads, musical or otherwise. Some of my favorite composers to play include Bartok, Sciarrino, and Bach.
