About

My name is Alexander Hersh, but you can call me Alex! I'm a cellist originally from Chicago but I went to school in Boston for many years and was one of the early Groupmuse performers.

From Boston I went off to live in Berlin. Now I run around the world playing concerts, taking part in competitions, and organizing NEXUS Chamber Music which is a group I serve as the co-Artistic Director of. NEXUS creates a lot of high-production value media content and runs a 2 week summer music festival in downtown Chicago each year while still playing tour dates throughout the year! :)

Music

I'm pretty omnivorous when it comes to repertoire. I love really old music, really new music, and everything in between. I love to push the umbrella of the 'standard repertoire' whenever I get a chance
