Bach Cello Suites / Songs for Cello and Voice
About
Cellist , pianist and music director, Pawel Walerowski was
raised in musical family in Central Europe and played cello
and piano from early years. Formally trained in Poland,
he graduated from the Conservatory of Poznan in Cello
Performance.During his formative training, he played in
various ensembles and recorded for radio and television.
Pawel received honors from competitions like J.S. Bach
in Poland and International Cello Competition
in Austria . He served as Principal Cellist and soloist
for Youth String Orchestra in Slovenia (with which he
recorded two CD’s) and later went on to become leading
cellist in orchestra playing Andrew Lloyd Webber
musicals. Pawel came to the U.S after obtaining
scholarship from the University of
Arizona. He subsequently performed throughout much of
the western U.S. in various ensembles, as well as played
on a cruise ship for a year.It was on a cruise ship that he
was first introduced to jazz. And it was a cruise ship that brought
him to the Bay Area. Currently, Pawel serves as cello coach at high
schools and plays organ in local church. He also plays as principal in Diablo Symphony. Pawel recently rediscovered his love of Bach's Cello Solo Suites and he plays them frequently to bring solace to others. He also likes to sing and accompany himself on cello, with songs from various parts of the world, in both Polish, Spanish,Portuguese and English.
