Hathor Winds
Woodwind Quintet
About
Described as "the character quintet," Hathor Winds embodies versatility and style. Hathor, an Egyptian goddess displaying multiple personalities, was said to be able to invoke any emotion. That sentiment holds especially true to this dynamic group of young artists. Focused on presenting concerts in an accessible setting, Hathor plays everything from quintet standards to their own commissioned works, from living rooms to recital halls and everywhere in between.
Hathor Winds was established in January 2014, when five friends informally sightread through a stack of wind quintet music far later into the evening than any of them had planned. The award-winning group now travels frequently to perform and compete in recital halls across the country, most recently in May at the 2015 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, IN. Still, the informality of their first rendezvous is dear to their heart and ever-present in their group dynamic. One can expect to see this at a Hathor Groupmuse.
