Cardamom Quartet
Boston-based ensemble of performing and teaching artists
About
Cardamom Quartet is an ensemble of teaching and performing artists who build personal connections between their listeners and music through interactive performances and educational programs. The quartet’s repertoire ranges from Beethoven to the present day, with an emphasis on contemporary repertoire including original works by the composers in the group.
In 2014, Cardamom Quartet was the string quartet in residence at El Sistema Somerville, an immersive after-school music program for elementary school students. Together they designed and led a weekly chamber music elective, incorporating chamber music skills, improvisation, open rehearsals, and performances. Committed to bringing music to a wide variety of audiences in the greater Boston area, Cardamom Quartet has performed in art galleries, senior centers, school programs, farmers’ markets, and living rooms. Last summer they were featured on the courtyard concert series at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. In summer of 2015, the quartet was in residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
