Madkoi Quartet
String Ensemble
About
Featured by the Asian-American Arts Alliance, Italian magazine Uomo Moderno, and the Philadelphia Inclusive Arts Festival, the Madkoi Quartet performs old and new music in venues around the tri-state area. Founded in 2015 at the Manhattan School of Music by violinists Rose Xiu Yi Kow & Yoon Jung Hwang, violist Jay Julio, and cellist Camille Dietrich, they have studied individually and together with members of the Orion, Manhattan, Brentano, and American string quartets, and have performed in venues ranging from the Cutting Room to the headquarters of AIDS charity (RED). Highlights of the 2018-2019 season include the East Coast premiere of Adam Cuthbert's "universe explosion" at a Massivemuse in Philadelphia, recording sessions with singer-songwriters and producers in NYC, and many, many group subway rides.
