About
Rebecca Lester, originally from Torrance, CA, earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performance from Azusa Pacific University, studying with Jonathan Moerschel of the Calder Quartet. She is in the first year of her Master’s degree in Viola Performance at UT Austin, and is studying with Roger Myers.
Rebecca’s performance credits include appearances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Zipper Hall at The Colburn School, The Egg Performing Arts Center in Albany, NY, and more. From Fall 2013 to Spring 2017 Rebecca was a member of the Azusa Pacific University Symphony, serving as principal violist for the '16/'17 school year. She currently performs in the Round Rock Symphony and UT Austin Symphony Orchestra. Rebecca has also had an active freelance presence the past four years, playing for recording sessions, weddings, parties, and more. Recently, she recorded tracks for two films, “A Question of Faith” and the independent movie “Caul Unknown.” Last year, Rebecca premiered a Sonata for VIola and Organ by LA based composer Neil Stipp.
Rebecca actively pursues educational experiences in both teaching and performing. In 2015 and 2016 she attended The Next Festival of Emerging Artists with a group of 20 excellent musicians. Last summer the festival performed and recorded with renown guitarist/songwriter Richard Thompson on his song cycle based on the diaries of WWI soldiers. In 2016 she also attended the Montecito International Music Festival where she studied with Roger Myers.
