About
Bay Area based saxophonist Eric Barreto has a career that has taken him to music festivals, universities, and music halls around the country. As a former member of the Mana Quartet, Eric's performance engagements include the Downtown Chamber Series, the Spectrum Series, Ethos Chamber Music Society, the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, and NPR’s Performance Today. He’s also been a soloist with the Hot Springs Music Festival Orchestra and the National Music Festival Orchestra. Since moving to the Bay Area he's performed on several chamber music series and orchestras including the New Century Chamber Orchestra. As an educator he’s held residencies at Northern Arizona University, Florida State University, SUNY Fredonia, and Sacramento State University. He’s also a co-founder of the Mana Saxophone Institute, a two-week instructional summer workshop for saxophonists around the country. Eric holds a B.M in Music Performance and an M.A. is Arts Administration from Florida State University.
Music
The saxophone is also a relatively new instrument in classical music. As an orchestral saxophonist, I love showing a different sound of the saxophone that people might not have heard before, so the music I play for Groupmuses often a combination of original works and transcriptions of works for other instruments.
