Georgy Gusev
Cello, Piano
About
"Amazed by his talent, musicality and technique! Georgy is a rare example of a musician who manages to connect knowledge and respect for musical tradition with his own creativity and gorgeous talent. Certainly he’s one of the most intriguing young musicians that we must respect as important for the culture’s future." - Mstislav Rostropovich
A graduate of the famed Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Georgy performs at major festival and venues worldwide with musicians such as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet, Natalia Gutman, Giovanni Sollima, Enrico Dindo, Rocco Filippini, Andrey Gavrilov, Eliso Virsaladze and many others.
As a composer, among his recent projects there is a series of compositions for cello solo named 'Breviario per Nomadi' that has been used as a background for various shows by the Italian national television RAI and a few films. His first solo (as a cellist and composer) album CELLO DRIVE was sponsored by Thomastik-Infeld Vienna and released by UK label North2North in July 2016.
In 2011, in Moscow, Georgy founded GOSH Projects - a nonprofit association of young artists, whish is actively promoting the cultural exchange between Russian and Italian musicians, actors, dancers and artists, organizing Italo-Russian master classes, lections and workshops in Rome, Milan, Palermo and, respectively, in Moscow, St.Peterburg and Kazan. He is also a founder of the International Music Festival “Masters of Music” held each year in Moscow since 2013.
In 2016 Georgy moved to Los Angeles in order to work on development of his musical multimedia projects, which he himself calls as a "Musical theater of the future". In the past year he had a chance to work with multi Grammy Awards winning composers, producers and performers such as Randy Jackson, Walter Afanasieff, Kenny G, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and many others. His Carnegie Hall debut in New York as composer and performer planned on February 2, 2018
Georgy plays a cello by Ernst Liebich III (Breslau, 1889) and Nicolas Geisser (St.Peterburg 1901).
