About

Brenda is a graduate from University of Puget Sound with a double major in biology and music. She began playing the piano when she was six years old, and despite her interest in studying animals, piano performance has always been a significant avocation of hers. Brenda has been named a winner of several competitions, including the WIAA/WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Contest and the Coeur d'Alene Symphony National Young Artists Competition, and was honored to represent the Northwest division at the MTNA National Conference in 2019. In addition to a wide variety of solo piano and chamber works, she has performed concerti with the University of Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra, the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, and the Coeur d'Alene Symphony. Brenda is an environmental educator in the Baltimore area, but is still working as a freelance pianist.

Music

My area of focus tends to be Romantic and early Contemporary works, and I especially love exploring music by Russian, Eastern European, and non-Western composers. Pieces for small chamber ensembles may also be performed depending on the availability of other musicians.
