About
As the cellist and a founding member of the Skyros Quartet, Dr. Willie Braun has performed across the US, Canada, and China.
Willie earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Chamber Music Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Willie also holds a Master’s of Music in Chamber Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s of Music in Cello Performance from Arizona State University. He has studied under the direction of Gregory Beaver, Joshua Gindele, Thomas Landschoot, and the Miro and Chiara String Quartets.
Willie is an avid teacher and educates in many capacities. In addition to teaching a private studio and at Edmonds Community College, he is an Artistic Director of the Emerald City Chamber Music Organization, or ECCHO.
Music
Willie plays music from many genres, from music for solo cello by Bach, Crumb, and Britten to sonatas and other concert works with piano, Celtic fiddle tunes, and of course, literature from the string quartet repertoire.
