About

I am a marimba player (and general percussionist!) specializing in solo performances of my own arrangements of timeless masterworks written for other instruments.

I am passionate about spreading the marimba's beautiful sound to the world, and about expanding its minuscule repertoire with my arrangements.

My goal with arrangements is to ask, "What if...?" - I explore what a piece might have sounded like if the composer had known what a marimba was, and written the piece for the marimba instead of piano, cello, violin, string orchestra, etc.

I also perform a set of arrangements for solo marimba+vibraphone simultaneously - a combination that presents cool sonic possibilities.

Of course, I play some contemporary repertoire written originally for the marimba as well.

Enough about what I play - a little about me:
I am freshly out of grad school, though I've been performing as a soloist for a while.

Started music on piano at the age of 5 and switched to percussion when I started middle school. Went to Northwestern for undergrad in percussion performance and San Francisco Conservatory for masters in marimba performance.

I've also won some international solo competitions (and not won quite a few more!)
