About
Born and raised in Asturias (northern Spain), I am a clarinet and bass clarinet player based in New York. After 3 years in Portugal and another 3 in Chicago developing my music career in classical/contemporary repertoire and instrumental technique, I now got a chance to establish myself in the Hudson Valley as a former member of The Orchestra Now. After being part of many Symphonic Orchestras, diverse ensembles, and chamber music groups, I can say I have a big passion for chambered music. Not just for very well known composers, but also for new music and for composers that did not have a clear voice in music history for many reasons. I already had a chance to work side by side with many renowned composers such as Joan Tower, David Lang, Steve Reich, Tan Dun, and Andrew Norman keeping my motivation for contributing to the future of Contemporary and New Music. Every opportunity to perform is a gift, and for every kind of listener because we all know how to listen (differently) to music.
Music
I have an extensive repertoire list of chamber and solo music in my back that allows me to program according to specific themes, music genres, cultures or periods in history. From Baroque music, with many arrangements of Bach or Telemann concertos, partitas, suites; through the classical music of Mozart, Stamitz; romantic of Brahms, Weber, Spohr, Schumann, Schubert; to the variety of the 20th and 21st Centuries with influences of jazz, traditional music, pop-music, avant-garde movements, and the free course of music composition. Another feature in my repertoire is the flexibility to perform in traditional music groups such as Roda de Choro from Brazil, Klezmer music, or Son Jarocho from Mexico, giving a different twist in my programs. I am always open to repertoire suggestions according to a premeditated theme for a music event !! Reach me out and we will discuss possibilities for sure.
