About

Hi! I'm Maia. I'm a professional violinist. I co-founded and co-direct the Salastina Music Society, an acclaimed chamber music series based in LA. At Salastina, we believe that to know great music is to love great music. This is most true when beauty and discovery are shared in intimate spaces.

While Salastina accounts for a huge chunk of my passion in life, it's about 5% of my income. I make two thirds of my living scoring for movies, like the last three installments of Star Wars.

I also do a lot of teaching, which I love: I direct the chamber music program at Caltech, and teach chamber music at Colburn as well.

If you're a concert-goer in LA, you've probably also seen me perform at the Hollywood Bowl, with the LA Phil at Disney Hall, or as a member of the LA Chamber Orchestra.

I love my life as a teacher, orchestral/recording musician, chamber musician, and general musical advocate/entrepreneur. Everything I do comes down to sharing great music with other people in some way, shape, or form. I'm lucky to get to do that, and am looking forward to Groupmuse being another outlet.

Music

Any chamber music from the past and present. That includes anything written by any of the greats. A caveat: I'm not so into playing overly esoteric 20th century stuff. I've even taken some heat for that. (Whatever: I trust my own taste in that department.)
