About
Award-winning violinist Gary Capozziello enjoys a varied musical life as both highly versatile performer and passionate teacher. As a chamber performer he has participated at festivals such as Kneisel Hall Chamber Festival, Cambridge International Music Festival, Maine Chamber Music Institute, the NYU String Quartet Program, and the Music @ Salem series. A frequent soloist with orchestra, his concerto appearances have included concerts with the Manchester Symphony, the Civic Orchestra of New Haven, American Chamber Orchestra, Connecticut Valley Chamber orchestra, Hartt Symphony and the Hartt Wind Ensemble. A featured guest artist at the 30th Annual Fairfield County String Festival, Gary has made appearances on “The Exchange” television broadcast and benefit concerts for Music for Youth and South Shore Music Inc. He has performed in concert with the Lions Gate Trio and in a string quartet as a member of the full- scholarship 20/20 chamber program at Hartt, where he was teaching assistant studying with Katie Lansdale.
A native of Fairfield, CT, Gary earned his B.M. at SUNY Purchase Conservatory and his M.M. from New England Conservatory, where his principle teachers were Laurie Smukler, Lucy Chapman and Nick Kitchen. Gary has performed in masterclass for Isaac Stern, Midori, Pamela Frank, Maxim Vengerov, Glen Dicterow, Ani Kavafian, Bayla Keyes and Vadim Gluzman, and in chamber music masterclasses for members of the Juilliard, Mendelssohn, Tokyo, Borromeo, American, Orion, Audubon, Fine Arts and Chicago String Quartets.
