About
I'm an Israeli-Mexican-American cellist living in Boston (yes, I have three passports!). I love performing and connecting with audience members and students. I love designing concert programs that tell a story and create a very special experience for listeners. I enjoy playing solo, but also collaborating with some fabulous colleagues. In my concerts, talking to the audience is a signature move of mine. I'm passionate about bringing people into the music by showing and explaining what's so awesome about it.
My cello has taken me all over the world, to some of the most beautiful halls, like Carnegie Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston. I've played many concerts in large halls, stadiums, museums, opera houses, small concert halls, private homes and even in unusual places like a flea market in Mexico.
So what do I do in Boston? I play with many ensembles and all kinds of repertoire: orchestral, chamber music, baroque and other period music. One evening you can see me playing big orchestral works like a symphony by Mahler with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra while the next evening you might see me play chamber music from the 1850s on my baroque cello. In addition to these wonderful concerts I get to play in, I also teach music. I've been an educator of music for a long time and I'm very very passionate about it. I've taught in all sorts of settings: private lessons for students of all ages (I mean it, like 5-85 years old!), youth orchestra cello sections, chamber music groups, masterclasses here and abroad, school assemblies, and early music education in the El Sistema setting.
And where did I learn how to play this instrument? I started when I was 8 and loved it from Day 1. In my teens, I loved cello and didn't practice much, but finally got the practice bug in college at U.C. Berkeley. I majored in music and went on to study cello in Paris. I came to Boston and received a Masters from New England Conservatory. I've been fortunate to be able to study with some incredible musicians worldwide in conservatories, festivals and masterclasses.
I live in Jamaica Plain with my husband and 2 year old son, who loves trying to play my cello.
