About

Earl Maneein was born and raised in Queens, NYC and began studying classical violin at age four. In fifth grade, he was given a dubbed cassette tape of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" that altered his perspective irrevocably. He began incorporating his love of metal and hardcore into his violin playing, sneaking out to see bands like Sick of it All, Biohazard, Cro-Mags, Anthrax, and Slayer when he was 13. Earl received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Queens College and a Master of Music Degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York City, studying with Daniel Phillips of the Orion String Quartet. In 2007, Earl founded the ground breaking experimental metal group Resolution15. He has been featured in The Strad, Strings Magazine, Vice, and Guitar World. Earl's works have been commissioned by Rachel Barton Pine, Tito Muñoz (director of Phoenix Symphony), The Dance Theater of Harlem, The Francesca Harper Dance Company, and Zentripetal Duo. A versatile violinist, Earl is comfortable in many styles ranging from his original classical training to bluegrass, jazz, Jewish, rock, and of course, the styles in which he has chosen to pursue his artistic voice in, metal and hardcore. Earl has recorded and played with such varied artists and groups: Jay-Z, Florence+The Machine, Paul Weller of The Jam, Rhianna, Avrohom Fried, Lipa Schmeltzer, Blood Has Been Shed, Albert Hammond Jr. of the Strokes, The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Sean Lennon, and Alicia Keys, among others. Currently, he is a member of the experimental grindcore/metal duo Black Heart Sutra and new music/hardcore crossover string quartet seven)suns (www.sevensunsmusic.com) and is endorsed by Warwick Amplification, Kemper Profiler Amps, and Coda Bow. Earl lives in Brooklyn, New York with his partner Jennifer DeVore and their daughter and maintains a private teaching studio.
