Master violinist, Erick Friedman wrote of Emil Altschuler “…a truly outstanding violinist of his generation…and sound and accuracy of intonation that are truly extraordinary.” He received his BM from Juilliard under Dorothy DeLay and Naoko Tanaka and his MM from Yale under Erick Friedman. He has performed in Lincoln Center, San Francisco’s Helen Von Ammon’s Emerging Artist Series, The Aspen Music Festival, and Italy’s Castello di Galeazza. He serves as concertmaster of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. He has taught at NEC, Northeastern University, and Tufts University Community Music Program. In 2019, he founded the Altschuler Summer Music Institute in Rimini, Italy. During the pandemic, ASMI has been hosting online masterclasses, including teachers from Juilliard, NEC and the BSO. Most recently, he joined the Artist Management “by arrangement with Jack Price”. Emil lives with his wife and daughter in Boston, MA, where he also teaches. All repertoire. Solo, duos with piano, concerti with orchestra, chamber music, and as an orchestral musician. My current favorite program consists of the great unaccompanied repertoire by J.S. Bach, Niccolo Paganini, Eugene Ysaye, and Astor Piazzolla.
