The violin sonatas for two violins from Prokofiev and Ysaÿe are two of the finest in the repertoire. Prokofiev is at his best with this angular yet vibrant work. In four movements, the sonata expresses the essence of the Soviet feeling with melancholic melodies, coupled with fantastic outbursts throughout.

Not to be outdone, a rarely performed sonata from the giant of violin playing, Eugène Ysaÿe, offers a potpourri: from neo-classical ideas, to impressionistic textures, this fine three-movement sonata is sure to captivate.
