This program explores the full range of repertoire written for violin and cello alone, from Baroque to Contemporary compositions. Pieces written for this ensemble are always dynamic and virtuosic, because a composer has to fit complete musical ideas in just two musical voices. Composers often employ the full kaleidoscope of techniques available to the instruments, making for exciting pieces!

Selections for this program are taken from Gliere’s 8 pieces, Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and cello, Handel-Halvorsen Sarabande, Rolla’s duos, and others. Particular selections may slightly change each performance, as we enjoy rotating through this literature. We always cover a variety of styles to display all that the pairing can do!
