Full program notes
Max and I love to do a themed concert. This one is on the sound of Japan. Some composers we picked like Michio Miyagi were innovative in the way they fused eastern and classical sounds. Some of them like French composer Eugene Bozza, composed using his impressions of what Japonese music sounded like. Disenchanted with the atonal modern music, composer Takashi Yoshimatsu regards himself as a new lyricist and his compositional style as neo-classical romanticism, influenced by his participation in popular, rock and traditional Japanese music groups. You're in for a variety of music all inspired by Japan!
