Historical context
Pianist Radoslawa Jasik and flute player Denis Savelyev are a rising force in the world of classical music.
Radoslawa and Denis met each other at Mannes School of Music in 2015. They established a duo and performed in various venues, including Carnegie Hall in 2015. In 2016 they were invited by the Ukrainian composer Virko Baley to give performances at the University of Nevada. This was a significant honor, as Baley is one of the most respected Ukrainian living composers in the world. In 2022, Jasik and Savelyev actively engaged in organizing charitable concerts to help Ukrainian refugees. They performed in several cities across Europe, raising money for relief organizations. In the summer of 2022, they presented their Polish-Ukrainian repertoire during a brief tour in Europe. They performed recitals in Italy and Poland promoting brotherhood between Polish and Ukrainian nations through the music they selected. In November 2022 they returned to Carnegie Hall with their Polish-Ukrainian repertoire as a duo, and performed Hoverla by Ukrainian composer S. Orel as part of a larger ensemble in support of Ukraine.
Their repertoire ranges from baroque pieces to modern music. They have been focused on Polish and Ukrainian repertoire, which includes pieces by F. Chopin, W. Kilar, Z. Kolodub, M. Lysenko, and M. Hayvoronsky. In addition, their repertoire covers music by F. Schubert, C. Saint-Saëns, F. Poulenc, G. Gershwin, V. Baley and L. Liebermann
The duo has been praised for their virtuosity, musicality, and stage presence. They are quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young ensembles in the world.
