Historical context
The centerpiece of this program is one of Schumann's early compositions Carnaval, a 21-movement piece representing various characters at a masked ball. The pieces are connected through a recurring four-note motif, like a musical cryptogram.
The rest of the program will feature similarly early works by Mozart and Chopin, exploring how these early works influenced and developed these composers' voices later on.
