Host

My favorite instrument is the Cello. Sarah Stone is one of my favorite performers. I feel so blessed that she will play a concert of Bach's Cello Suites, the cello music that is most special to me. Best of all, I am thrilled to be able to share that experience with you.....

Sarah Stone (sarahabigaelstone.com) will play two Bach suites for unaccompanied cello, Number 1 and Number 6 on her beautiful 1720s instrument -- a five-string piccolo cello.

Sarah is an engaging performer who is committed to bringing early music to unexpected places. In her home neighborhood of Long Island City, Queens, she curates a free monthly series, Communitea Chamber Music at a local coffee house/cafe. As well she plays throughout the United States with groups that bring period ensembles and musicians to perform and work with local musicians in early music workshops. In New York City, among other groups, she is a core member of the Repast Baroque Ensemble (RepastBaroque.org)

Sarah holds a Masters in Historical Performance from the Juilliard School, a Masters from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelors of Music from Rice University.

Here are the more mundane details β€” Gather at 4:00 in the afternoon to enjoy the informal company of friends and new acquaintances in my Brooklyn Heights home. The program will begin at about 4:30 PM. I will provide plenty of appetizers. Please bring a beverage (wine, beer, soda) to share and payment to show your appreciation for the musician.

A note, if you are wondering -- While our home is technically not accessible, the venue is only one flight up. And, although the event is not specifically kid-friendly, young folks who are interested will be welcome to attend.
