I’m excited to host my 10th Groupmuse at 7:30 on Friday, January 17, featuring baroque violinist Chloe Fedor with Arnie Tanimoto on viola da gamba & Parker Ramsey on harpsichord (short bios below).
In Paris, 1725, the Concert Spirituel emerged as one of the earliest public concert series and a cultural mecca. Though the Italian violin masters increasingly dominated the musical scene, this program features three outstanding French violinist/composers—Leclair, Rebel, and Mondonville—who created such a fervor on the prominent Parisian stage.
THE MUSIC:
Jean-Marie Leclair: Sonata in D Major, Op 2, No 6
Jean-Fery Rebel: Sonata in N Minor, No 6
Jean-Joseph Cassanea de Mondonville: Sonata in G Major, Op 4, No 3
Snacks & beverages will be served at intermission & feel free to bring snacks & beverages to share.
I hope you can join friends, neighbors & other Groupmusers to enjoy wonderful music in my home.
MUSICIANS (check out their websites for more info & videos)
Chloe Fedor:
Lauded for her “lovely, plush & seductive tone” (NY Times), Chloe appears as soloist, concertmaster & chamber musician in ensembles across the country, including Apollo’s Fire and Trinity Wall Street Baroque Orchestra. In 2018, she appeared on Broadway as the onstage Baroque violinist in “Farinelli And The King”. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Eastman School of Music and two Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, first in Violin Performance & then in Historical Performance. She was a concerto competition winner at both conservatories & was recipient of the Juilliard Career Advancement Fellowship.
Arnie Tanimoto:
Gold medalist of the 7th International Bach-Abel Competition in Fall 2018, he is equally at home on the viola da gamba & the baroque cello. He was the first-ever viola da gamba major at The Juilliard School, where he soloed on both instruments. Described by the NY Times as a “fine instrumental soloist”, he performs in venues across the U.S., Europe & Japan. He has also performed & recorded with Barthold Kuijken, the Boston Early Music Festival Ensemble, & the Smithsonian Consort of Viols.
Parker Ramsey:
He is known in the U.S., Europe & Asia as an accomplished soloist & accompanist. In 2014, he won First Prize in the Sweelinck international Organ Competition (NL). He recently completed a Masters Degree in Harp Performance from The Juilliard School. Prior to that, he was Organ Scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, during his undergraduate studies in history. He then completed a Masters in Performance in Organ and Harpsichord at Oberlin Conservatory, where he is now pursuing an Artist Diploma in Organ Performance.
