Winter solstice will take place at 8:19pm on Saturday, Dec. 21st. this year. We will be marking the occasion with a great, contemplative selection of works, performed on piano and cello.
We plan to make it warm and cozy, a refuge from the stress of the season and a reminder of its many blessings - connecting with the family, friends, and the community. The beauty and solace of music. An excuse to sip on gluehwine and munch on holiday yummies (we’ll have some, bring your favorite if you’re so inclined).
Program:
Ballade No. 4, Op. 52 - Chopin
Sonata Op. 57 "Appasionata" (I) - Beethoven
Meditation from Thais - Massenet
Vocalise - Rachmaninoff
Salut d'amur - Elgar
Swan - Saint-Saëns
Romance for Cello and Piano in A Major, Op. 69 - Faure
Apres un Reve - Faure
Sonata No. 2, Op. 36 (1931) (I,) - Rachmaninoff
Bring blankets and pillows, and spread out - plenty of space here.
Kids are very welcome. Please make sure they do not interrupt the program (we’ve never had issues so far, bring some drawing supplies and paper and they usually sit peacefully, soak up the sounds and document impressions music evokes and inspires in them).
Looking forward to sharing this evening with all of you!
