Enjoy a mellow afternoon on the first day of the year with some lovely classical music. I'm very excited to have my friend Brian play the harp for us again!
Doors open at 2:30, music will start right at 3:00--enough time to get a drink and meet some new friends!
The party will wind down around 5 (the hosts have another event after), which is perfect for those who want to find a nice spot for dinner in the Castro or Mission.
If this is your first Groupmuse, the concerts are casual, so you may be sitting on pillows on the floor. Just because we want to make chamber music feel less stuffy doesn't mean we appreciate it less; we want to see and hear the performers, not phones. No texting, no recording, no taking calls--let's enjoy the live music by being present together!
What's the music?
The program of classical music includes original works for harp as well as some transcriptions, for example:
Claude DEBUSSY: Première arabesque
Johann PACHELBEL: Canon
John THOMAS: The Minstrel’s Adieu to His Native Land
Jacques IBERT: Ballade & Scherzo
Mikhail GLINKA: Nocturne in E-flat Major
Other composers may include Marcel GRANDJANY, Adam HAHN, and Félix GODEFROID.
Atid Kimelman will join me with his clarinet to play the "Entr'acte" from Bizet's CARMEN!
