The son of a National Banjo Champion, Tristan Scroggins was surrounded with bluegrass traditions from birth. Having performed everywhere from rural bluegrass festivals to the Grand Olβ Opry, Tristan was awarded the prestigious Instrumentalist of the Year Momentum Award by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2017. While attending San Francisco Music Conservatory, where she received a M.M. in Chamber Music, Alisa Rose also devoted herself to mastering bluegrass fiddle. Her versatile style was featured in ensembles that encompassed her love of both roots music and classical chamber music, including the modern-folk ensemble Real Vocal String Quartet, Grammy-nominated classical crossover stars Quartet San Francisco, and Rockygrass (bluegrass) Band Contest winners 49 Special. Combining two lifetimes of commitment to craft, technique, and stylistic integrity, Scroggins & Rose create creative contemporary roots music with the expression and detail of classical music, the ebullient drive of fiddle music, and the thrilling virtuosity of both traditions.
What's the music?
Scroggins & Rose will perform selections of their own tunes as well as improvise on Baroque and traditional fiddle themes.
