Welcome to my second Groupmuse!
Scarlatti turns 334 on October 26th, so let's start the celebration early on the night of Friday the 25th! This festive concert will feature harpsichord music by Domenico Scarlatti and his father, Alessandro, with celebratory nods from Scarlatti's composer compatriots who turned 334 earlier this year: J.S. Bach and Handel.
All of the music will be performed on a replica inspired by a 17th-century Flemish harpsichord.
What's the music?
A. Scarlatti: Toccata in G minor
D. Scarlatti: Sonatas K. 334, 9, 209, 169, 517 +
- intermission -
J.S. Bach - Toccata in D major, BWV 912
G.F. Handel - Air & Variations in E ("The Harmonious Blacksmith")
D. Scarlatti - Sonata (Fuga) in F, K. 82
