And just like that, summer is at an end and the 19-20 arts season is upon us -- and oh boy do we have what it takes to ring it in: The San Francisco Opera has invited us for a Billy Budd Night Out!
Billy Budd is one of Benjamin Britten’s greatest achievements and he’s arguably the leading operatic composer of the 20th century, so that’s saying something. Moreover, it’s based on a novella by Herman Melville - perhaps the 19th Century’s greatest English-language writer. On top of all that, the words were adapted for the stage by E.M. Forster, who himself was one of the last century’s greatest wordsmiths.
So we’ve got kind of a dream-team situation on our hands. And the fact that it’s being delivered by one of the world's finest opera companies only sweetens the deal.
Tickets average $60 or more, but we’ve got a stack for only $25 — but you know as well as I do that these will fly, so grab yours!
