I’m excited to present my 9th Groupmuse house concert on Monday September 23rd at 7:00pm featuring the Cramer Quartet playing works by Haydn and Mozart who met in 1781 when Mozart was 25 & Haydn 49. Despite the age disparity, they became close friends & had a profound influence on each other as their work evolved. Haydn told Mozart’s father that his son was the “greatest composer known to me either in person or by reputation. He has taste and, what is more, the most profound knowledge of composition.” In 1785, Mozart published six string quartets dedicated to his “beloved friend Haydn”.
PROGRAM:
Haydn’s “Sun” Quartet Op. 20 No. 2
Mozart’s “Spring” Quartet K. 387, the first of the quartets dedicated to Haydn.
CRAMER QUARTET:
Jessica Park, violin
Chiara Fasani Stauffer, violin
Keats Dieffenbach, viola
Shirley Hunt, cello
Please visit their website for bios & videos (cramerquartet.com).
