Late summer afternoons are made for basking in the sunshine - and soaking up some music!
Come join me and classical guitarist John Warren in Adams Morgan for an afternoon of Spanish classical guitar, Brazilian and Latin American music. Weather permitting, we will be on my rooftop, enjoying the last of the September sun. In case of rain, my cosy apartment and fireplace are standing by. Either way, a house sangria and appetizers will be on hand!
John is a classical guitarist, composer, and publisher, originally from Santa Cruz, California, now residing in the Washington DC area. Specializing in Latin American classical guitar, Warren performs his own compositions as well as the music of Baden Powell, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Leo Brouwer, Luis Bonfá, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Eduardo Falú, and many others.

What's the music?
Late summer afternoon of guitar music from Brazil, Latin America, and Spain. I'll also perform some of my original compositions and arrangements of popular songs. New pieces to my repertoire include Luis Bonfá's "Manha do Carnaval" and the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood." On electric guitar, I'll perform Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" (1969) with a bluesy arrangement of Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie No 1," as well as "Sleepwalk" (1959) and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Also in the mix, "Julia Florida" by Agustin Barrios, some Afro Sambas by Baden Powell, and an arrangement of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Adagio" from the popular Concierto de Aranjuez.
