For the past couple years, we’ve been invited up north to Sonoma for the Valley of the Moon Music Festival. The best wine in the nation, coupled with some of the finest players from all over, tied together with a theme that gives the whole two weeks of concerts a telos — a purpose.
This year the theme is "Salonnières of the 19th Century” - a celebration of the brilliant and unsung women who worked doggedly to create a salon culture in Europe that incubated the musical genius of the day that we still celebrate in our day. Each concert comes with complimentary libations.
An Italian in Paris: Princess Cristina Belgiojoso - A program of Chopin, Liszt, and Franck. Saturday, July 20 at 4pm, featuring Buena Vista Winery.
A Visionary’s Salon: Winnaretta Singer, Princesse de Polignac - Music by Wagner, Fauré, Stravinsky, and Chausson. Saturday, July 21 at 4pm, featuring Laurel Glen Vineyard.
My Brilliant Sister: Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel - Songs and chamber works by The Siblings Mendelssoh. Saturday, July 27 at 4pm, featuring featuring Valley of the Moon Winery.
Bach's Greatest Champion: Sara Levy - A morning concert with the music of Mozart, and three different members of the Bach family. Sunday, July 28 at 11am, featuring Barking Dog Roasters and Peet's Coffee.
The cost of tickets for general admission is $45, but we here at Groupmuse get ours for $20 — but supplies are limited so move now!
Have a great time up there!
