We are honored to re-host Concerts for Compassion founders Jocelyn Zhu and Mariella Haubs. Both trained at Juilliard, Jocelyn and Mariella combine mastery fo their instruments with alertness of our times, creating an evening to be remembered by its precious share of humanity. In their own words, "we want to promote awareness of what yet needs to be done, for we tie in to the belief that what is pleasing to the eye and ear also has the enormous capability to change hearts."
Concerts for Compassion perform music by composers and artists who faced adversity of all kinds, with programs ranging from Leclair and Prokofiev, to African-American Spirituals and works by composers today. Please join us as we celebrate their recent achievements such as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) status, and their work with The United Nations Refugee Agency in a Central America tour, when they provided educational workshops in refugee shelters, schools, cultural centers, shelters for victims of human trafficking, and youth community centers.
I have been feeling increasingly restless with my limited range of motion in relation to the various and simultaneous humanitarian emergencies of our times. If you also feel this way (and even if you don't) this evening will be our chance to be in two places at the same time: present in our lives while directly impacting the live of others, just by virtue of participating in a Concert for Compassion. I hope to see you there.

Leclair, Sonata No. 6
Matthew Liu, A Portrait of Kol Nidre
Haydn, Duet No. 6
Grill, Selections from “Border Crossings”
