Hello Group Musers --
Whatever the classical music, there's a back story to the music, the musician and the era. I look forward to boosting my understanding of all three while listening to great classical music. I hope you will savor the learning about classical music news, while also enjoying it.
We are lucky to have Musician John W. Warren, a composer and classical guitarist who has performed throughout the United States, and on the radio and in concert in countries such as Brazil, Peru, Mexico, and Spain.
John has promised to perform pieces from Brazil, Spain, and other Latin American countries, including music by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luís Bonfá, Baden Powell, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Leo Brouwer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Eduardo Falú. He will also perform some of his original compositions as well as some arrangements of popular songs.
Best,
Jay
What's the music?
Host Jay Krasnow has asked me to perform a few Spanish Ladino pieces; I'm looking forward to sharing a few beautiful pieces from the Sephardic tradition, a genre I have not performed previously. I will also perform some classical guitar compositions from Brazil and Latin America; a few of my original compositions; and some arrangements of popular songs. I've been working on several new pieces that I hope you will enjoy, including a couple of classic songs from 1959 and 1968, as well as my new solo arrangement of the Adagio from Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez."
