Hi music loving folks! Pianist Ian Scarfe and cellist Charles Akert will take us “behind the scenes” with a program of classical and romantic works. The duo will talk about the history and context of these composers and the works they will be performing, as well as sharing insights into the preparation and study that goes into preparing their musical programs. Scarfe and Akert will be starting a European tour later in May, so this concert will showcase their tour program, including popular Spanish folk songs, Schumann, and one of Ludwig van Beethoven's magnificent Cello Sonatas. Please join us for a late Sunday afternoon of thoughtful and inspiring music in a spacious mid-century home setting with decks and views of the bay. We invite you to bring appetizers and/or beverages (soft drinks, beer, wine) to share. Children are welcome if you trust they will want to sit quietly through a classical performance. We are looking forward to seeing you!
What's the music?
Manuel De Falla - Popular Spanish Folksongs (arr. Cello and Piano)
Robert Schumann - 5 Pieces in Folk - Style
Ludwig van Beethoven - Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, Op. 102, No. 1
