William P. Superhost

After two years of mostly piano concerts, "Croton Hall" has discovered the violin! We are honored to have Jean Huang, accomplished violinist and near-doctorate diplomate at the New England Conservatory of Music, as our inaugural violinist. I asked her to play a variety of styles and she came up with the theme, "Postcards from around the world," which you can see in the probable program below. Please visit her website at www.violinjeanius.com

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Souvenir d'un lieu cher Op. 42
Kosaku Yamada: Japanese folk tune "Red Dragonfly (akatombo)”
Carl Engel: "Sea-shell"
Deng Yu-Shian: Taiwanese folk song "Longing for the Spring Breeze"
J.S. Bach: Partita No.2 for solo violin in D minor BWV. 1004
Béla Bartók: Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 56

As always here at Croton Hall, Jean will briefly discuss each piece before playing it.

We hope you will join us, and with luck, be among the first to acknowledge Jean as a new Doctor of Music Arts.

Note: because I invite some non-Groupmuse guests, the number of seats remaining shown on the Gm site may not be accurate. The seats may all fill while the site still shows availability.
