Help me celebrate my birthday with a classy (but casual) Classical music concert.
I will have some drinks and snacks (and pie!), but feel free to bring some to share. There will most likely be an off-key singing of "Happy Birthday" at some point.
The program is listed further down on this page.
Hope to see you there!
What's the music?
Hi Lindsay,
My friend Nicolas and would like to propose the following program:
Beethoven, Serenade for Viola and Piano, op. 8 (13min)
Bowen, Romance in Db (5 min)
-intermission-
Schubert, "Arpeggione" Sonata (24min)
The Beethoven is one of his early classical works and one of his most comical. The Schubert "Arpeggione" sonata is a masterpiece written for an instrument that has possibly never been played, but the sonata is now performed by violists and cellists. It has some of Schubert's most virtuosic and melancholy music. The Bowen is lovely and brings the program near 45 minutes, but we are flexible to have something else fill that spot. Your thoughts about programing are welcome too. There is a lot of music for viola and piano, and it is your birthday!
All best,
Daniel
