Host
We are hosting our fourth groupmuse in the parlor of our beautiful old Victorian home in the Fort Hill area of Roxbury. 15 mins from the subway, and we can provide street parking if you drive. We will provide some munchies - please feel free to bring whatever you like to drink, or possibly some snacks for intermission. Hoping for another wonderful evening where we greet old friends and make some new ones!
What's the music?
Handel - Trio Sonata in G minor (a passionately emotive baroque masterpiece)
Barrière - Sonata for 2 Cellos in G Major (“More than any French composer before him, Barrière makes demands on the cello soloist in bold and sometimes even daring ways.”)
Antonín Dvořák - Silent Woods (magically captures a musical Bohemian woodland scene)
Dmitri Shostakovich - 5 Pieces for 2 Cellos and Piano (including the absolutely heartbreaking Shosty prelude)
Giovanni Sollima - Arboreto Salvatico (jazz meets classical minimalism at a heavy metal concert)
