Host
A jam night for classical musicians who like to jazz it up with some sparkly, otherworldly, or those beautiful dissonant dark tones (and then resolve ‘em) for friendly folks who like to listen.
Me, the host- I’m a classically trained pianist as well, and I have a great digital piano tuned to a Steinway that does lots of cool things- and it’s potential still needs to be explored. I’ll play along too!
What's the music?
Hello! My name is Ekaterina and I am a professional musician playing the mandolin. In our duo with Alexey Alexandrov, we play music from different centuries and styles. The program includes some of our favorite compositions from the Baroque era and introduces the classical repertoire of domra and mandolin, as well as some of our original compositions. We like bringing together the traditions of classical music, the atmosphere of freedom from Russian folk origins, and spice it up with some jazz!
J. S. Bach. Minuet and Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor
Louis-Claude Daquin. Le Coucou
Domenico Scarlatti. Sonata K. 107
Josef Tamarin. Suite for domra and balalaika in three movements
Astor Piazzolla. Escualo
Vasiliy Shekin. Fantasy on the themes by E. Grieg "The Mountain King"
Redd Stewart - Pee Wee King. Tennessee Waltz
Alexander Tsygankov. Impromptu in the country style
Alexey Alexandrov. Shades
