Welcome to my first New Haven Groupmuse (and first time hosting ever, for that matter)! To kick things off, I will host Hideki Yamaya and John Schneiderman, two classical guitarists, in my home for a night of Beethoven arranged for two guitars. My home is spacious, with two public living rooms, couches, and chairs, so there's plenty of room for guests. Please note my home is on the second floor of a house, so stair-climbing is required.
There will be two acts, with an intermission. The entire event should run for about 90 minutes. I hope to be able to provide modest refreshments :)
More on the Schneiderman - Yamaya Duo: Comprising Hideki Yamaya and John Schneiderman, Hideki's mentor and former professor, the duo specializes in the performance of music from the 18th- and 19th-centuries on plucked stringed instruments, including Baroque lute, Baroque mandolin, mandora, archlute, and 19th-century guitars and mandolins.
What's the music?
Ferdinando Carulli: Fantasy, Op. 157 (from Piano Sonata, WoO 69)
Carulli: Variations & Rondo, Op. 155 (from Piano Sonata, Op.26)
Vincenz Schuster: Variation, Op.3 (from Septet, Op. 20)
Schuster: Andante, Op. 5 (from Quartet, Op. 59 No. 3)
Schuster: Variations, Op. 4 (from Quartet, Op. 18 No. 3)
