The radical and transformational progress of the last few decades notwithstanding, the legacy of marginalizing women is one of our society's most profound and enduring disgraces and injustices. And though the history of classical music has, overall, hardly been an exception to that rule, the strength and revolutionary power of the feminine has long been a fixture of the operatic tradition. And so, at the changing of the guard, we've got for you a Massivemuse that celebrates the most badass women of opera.
Our wonderful friends at MusicTalks have organized an evening of operatic masterpieces from Rossini, Mozart, Bizet's Carmen - the apotheosis of the Operatic Lady Badass - and more for a bash that'll make you wanna put on a pink hat and march right out the door. The evening will feature the rising star mezzo-soprano Kirsten Scott and celebrated pianist Laetitia Ruccolo, joined by MusicTalks founder Elad Kabilio on the cello for the extravagant and dazzling Carmen Fantasy for Cello and Piano.
It's going down in the beautifully restored YMCA on Huntington Ave - the first Y in America and an architectural, historical, and community treasure -- transformed for our evening of music and celebration. There will be a cash bar and tickets are $20.
See you there!
