Host

Come see Operamuse's production of Bizet's Carmen - one of opera’s favorite shows, with tons of music you will find familiar! Operamuse's version has been set in rural America, where there aren’t many options for entertainment. One of the few thriving businesses in the town is Lil’ Pasties Strip Club, where the most popular night of the week is Latin Night. Unfortunately, all of the Latin workers are striking due to unfair treatment and pay. The club owner has to make do with the staff he has left and hope for the best...come see how it all works out for Don Jose, Michaëla, Escamillo, and the enchanting Carmen in this exciting and fun new production.

Operamuse produces hour-long adaptations of operas in modern English. Our mission is to make opera more accessible by telling relevant stories in intimate settings.

Cast:
Carmen - Rachelle Moss
José - Andrew Etherington
Escamillo - Julian Riesenthel
Micaëla - Laura Loge

Pianist - Beth Tankersley
Director - Sammie Gorham

Ample street parking is available. Metro #5 or #44. Our house is high off the street and it's thirty steps to the front door. Attendees will be asked to make a donation (minimum $10) all of which goes to the musicians. Please bring any drinks and snacks you'd like to share.

Note: Please do not arrive early unless you have a special need and have communicated with me. Both hosts and musicians require preparation and set up time. The start time (7:30) means that is the time you should arrive, and you can expect the program will start slightly later. Thanks for your consideration.

What's the music?

Opera Unbound Opera Singers and Piano

Operamuse produces condensed, modern English versions of operas. Georges Bizet’s Carmen is not only a fan favorite of the Opera community, but also regarded as one of the best to have be your first. It also has a lot of music people will know, even if they haven’t seen it, because it’s often used in multiple forms of media.
