Mosa Tsay trio has played at my place several times. They are never a disappointment!
The program:
What's the music?
Not a trio this time (I've played at Marjorie's with a trio usually), but a cello+piano duo!
I first met Baron in France this past summer, at a music festival, and I love him and his musicality. The Rachmaninov is a stormy and beautiful sonata...some might say it is a sonata for piano...with some cello!
Program:
Sergei Rachmaninov
....Cello Sonata in G minor, op. 19 (1901)
I. Lento – Allegro moderato
II. Allegro scherzando
III. Andante
IV. Allegro mosso
(35 minutes)
Ellen Twaaffe Zwilich
....Lament for Cello and Piano (2000)
(7 minutes)
Johannes Brahms
....Cello Sonata No. 2 in F Major, Op. 99 (1886)
i. Allegro vivace
ii. Adagio Affetuoso
iii. Allegro passionato
iv. Allegro molto
(~25 minutes)
Many thanks to Marjorie for hosting. It's always a great evening at Marjorie's groupmuses.
Cheers,
Mosa
