Gallery 263 is a nonprofit art gallery. It is not a BYOB space (it's illegal in Cambridge) but there will be refreshments provided. Those of you that have attended in the past know that this is an incredible room for chamber music---the space is acoustically awesome. Get ready for a great afternoon, just bring good vibes and a friend or two or three!
The classical guitar repertoire is unique to the literature of the piano, violin and other traditionally classical instruments in that it is unprecedentedly influenced by American jazz and popular styles. Guitarist Francesco Barone will present a recital of pieces that draw influence from the rich musical tradition of America. The program will feature the music of Andrew York (American guitarist and composer who compositions are inspired by American music styles), Nikita Koshkin (Russian composer who draws influence from American jazz) and Alexandre Tansman (A Polish composer who incorporated jazz harmonies into his works).
The performance will last 90 minutes with 60 minutes of music and a brief intermission.
