Hello Group Musers!
We are a professional ensemble called Mistral, and have a regular concert series, but this Group Muse will be the dress rehearsal for our concerts over the weekend. We're eager to make our performances more visible and accessible to younger audiences, and we're all about connecting with our community. (We're hoping that if you know us already and were planning coming to our Brookline concert on Sunday, you still will!)
This is an ALL -SCHUBERT program of some of his most gorgeous chamber music:
String Quintet in C (also called the cello quintet as it calls for 2 cellos!)
Arpeggione Sonata, arranged for flute & string quartet
“Quartettsatz” in C minor
Franz Schubert, arguably the quintessential Viennese composer of the late Classical and early Romantic eras, unfortunately never achieved enormous fame in his short lifetime. He was, however, held in high esteem by a small group of admirers in Vienna who would organize informal salon concerts to celebrate his work. This type of intimate gathering became known as a Schubertiade, which Mistral will emulate in honor of Valentine’s Day.
We're excited to meet all of you! This will be a 2 hour + rehearsal, but you may leave quietly at any time. Come at 6pm, please, to mingle and drink some wine; Rehearsal will begin at 6:30. There will also be an intermission.
PS As we are the players as well as the hosts, we appreciate and welcome drinks and snacks! :) Thank you! JS
