Our wonderful friends at Lincoln Center have made a last-minute and particularly unforgettable Night Out available to us this Sunday afternoon at 3pm—
The Swedish Chamber Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir gather in David Geffen Hall to share with us Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis.
One of the last pieces Beethoven ever wrote, it’s by common consent a towering achievement and arguably the greatest choral work ever written.
He was in the final decade of his life and deaf as a stone, but the fire of his genius was burning brighter than ever. And nearly 100 musicians will unleash his power in the service of this grand and holy masterwork.
Tickets are typically $65, but it’s of course Groupmuse and we’ve of course got the hookup, so we’ve got a limited stack available for $25 (and $20 for supermuses) but it’s Lincoln Center and it’s Beethoven and it’s huge so these won’t last - which is to say: grab some!
PS
There’s also a pre-concert lecture in the Kaplan Penthouse at 1.45pm for those curious to learn about the masterpiece before being consumed by it - it’s free to all who have tickets.
