For our second Groupmuse, we are hosting the Kassia Music Collective, a DC-based contemporary chamber music ensemble. We just loved our first event, it's kind of addictive. :)
The Kassia Music Collective bring their signature mix of standards, lesser-known gems, and their own new compositions to an evening of piano trios and duos. Will include music by Mozart, Herzogenberg ( a lesser-known contemporary of Brahms), along with Sam Post (the group's pianist and San Francisco Symphony commissioned composer) and Bernard Vallandingham, the group's violinist.
We live near a Capitol BikeShare station (Lincoln Park), several bus lines (96/B2/D6), or a nice walk from Union Station or Eastern Market/Potomac Ave/RFK. If you choose to drive, there's plenty of street parking.
FYI, we do have a big, lazy Greyhound. We'll try to make sure he doesn't take up floor space during the performance. :)
For our first Groupmuse, we sent our kids downstairs with their iPads/headphones and a pizza. If you want to bring your (well-behaved) kids - and their tablet with headphones - go for it! Please make sure your kid(s) would be able to stay quiet/plugged in during the performance. We live in an old row house with very little soundproofing.
What's the music?
Milhaud: Suite for clarinet, violin, and piano, op. 157 (1936)
Post: Three pieces for violin & piano (2018) **
Vallandingham: Dances for violin, viola, clarinet, and piano (2018)**
**first performance
