The fine 'cello & piano duo of Laura Gaynon and Allegra Chapman will perform a program of diverse works by Maria von Paradis, Marta Ptaszyńska, and Beethoven.
What's the music?
Join us for three pieces for cello and piano from three different time periods. Paradis was a blind musician and composer (a rarity for a woman in her day), and frequent commissioner of her colleagues including Haydn and Mozart. Ptaszynska is a living Polish composer who writes thrilling works with evocative subjects - Moon Flowers takes its name from a hallucinogenic flower. We'll finish with the Beethoven A Major sonata - a transcendent classic.
Maria Theresia von Paradis - Sicilliene in Eb Major
Marta Ptaszynska - Moon Flowers
Beethoven - Sonata in A Major, Op. 69
